Content
Working in conflict contexts offers a high degree of uncertainty and ambiguity, thus demands a variety of adaptive competencies for a peace worker. This training offers the participants time for introspection regarding their own values, roles and motivations. At the same time, it builds the base for the collaboration with partners and networks within dynamic areas, by conveying key concepts on trust building, tension and cooperation.
Objectives
- Critical reflection of one’s roles and motivations
- Identify roles as well as desirable attitudes and skills peace workers (with a deepening on the soft skills)
- Managing complexity and simplicity
- Understanding trust building, tension and cooperation
- Understanding the role of communication in conflict transformation and peacebuilding
Methodology
The aim of this training is to provide an interactive and practice-oriented learning environment, in order for the participants to acquire the essential skills and knowledge on the topic. The consolidation of the participants’ sense of self, awareness of own patterns, attitudes, behaviours, biases, needs and limits, as well as understanding of group dynamics and the importance of communication are core issues to the training. These are not only put forward through theoretical inputs, but are consistently brought to the focus through practical exercises and the encouragement of self- and group reflection.
After a successful participation, participants receive a certificate and become part of the academy’s alumni network.
